Business Transformation Director

We are seeking a Business Transformation Director to lead integrated delivery across complex, technology-enabled transformation initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to shape program direction, advise senior clients, develop high-performing teams, and assume increasing responsibility for delivery leadership. 

Role Summary 

The Business Transformation Director provides program-level leadership across interconnected business, operational, readiness, and technology workstreams. Working closely with VSTI’s delivery leadership, the Director translates program objectives into coordinated plans, aligns teams and priorities, resolves cross-workstream issues, and maintains focus on business outcomes. 

Serving as a trusted advisor to client leaders and delivery partners, the Director oversees day-to-day execution, guides workstream leads, and supports program governance, executive communications, risk management, and decision-making.  This is a hands-on leadership role that combines direction of integrated program delivery with direct responsibility for developing and delivering critical client work products. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead integrated delivery across business, operational, readiness, and technology workstreams  
  • Translate program objectives into coordinated plans, priorities, performance measures, and actionable work products  
  • Direct day-to-day execution while taking a hands-on role in leading or developing critical analyses, recommendations, plans, briefings, and other client deliverables  
  • Guide workstream leads and team members, review deliverables, and maintain alignment and quality across teams and delivery partners  
  • Establish and manage effective governance, decision-making, reporting, and escalation practices  
  • Identify and resolve cross-workstream risks, issues, dependencies, and resource constraints  
  • Advise senior client leaders on transformation priorities, delivery decisions, tradeoffs, and organizational implications  
  • Facilitate executive and working-level discussions that advance decisions, resolve issues, and maintain momentum  
  • Ensure business needs and intended outcomes remain central throughout solution design, implementation, and operational transition  
  • Maintain delivery quality, contractual performance, client satisfaction, and team accountability  
  • Develop project teams, support workforce planning, and build leadership capacity across the engagement  
  • Identify opportunities to expand client impact and contribute to VSTI’s growth, methods, and capabilities

Qualifications 

  • 12+ years of experience leading complex business transformation, technology implementation, or management consulting engagements  
  • Demonstrated success integrating multiple business, operational, readiness, and technology workstreams  
  • Experience overseeing program delivery while developing critical analyses, recommendations, plans, and executive-level deliverables  
  • Strong executive advisory, facilitation, decision-making, and relationship-management skills  
  • Ability to translate strategic objectives into coordinated plans, practical actions, and measurable outcomes  
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, developing staff, and maintaining delivery quality and accountability  
  • Strong judgment and ability to navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and complex stakeholder environments  
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, information systems, organizational development, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience  
  • Federal government or other complex, regulated-environment experience preferred  
  • Experience with Salesforce-enabled transformation or other enterprise technology implementations is preferred  
  • Relevant project management, change management, Agile, or related certifications are a plus 

Candidates located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area are preferred. Hybrid or remote work arrangements may be available depending on client needs.  Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.
